Cherry Chu
Senior Engineering Geologist
Cherry brings 15 years of experience in the construction industry, with a strong foundation in engineering geology. Her career began with a focus on natural terrain hazards, including landslide categorisation, investigation, and mitigation. After seven years in metro construction, Cherry relocated to New Zealand in 2021.
Cherry's expertise spans a wide range of geotechnical skills, including:
• Field mapping (slope, landslide and tunnel).
• Aerial photograph interpretation
• Engineering geomorphological mapping.
• Desktop studies and assessments
• Supervision on-site formation, tunnel (TBM and drill-and-blast), and foundation works
• Planning and supervising ground investigation and geotechnical instrumentation works.
Beyond her technical expertise, Cherry is passionate about sharing her knowledge. She actively contributes to the industry through publishing papers, presenting at CPD seminars, and engaging in career sharing at schools.
OUTSIDE WORK: Cherry enjoys playing cello and piano, reading, cooking, and spending quality time with her family.
