Ben Anderton

Principal Geotechnical and Water Resources Engineer

Ben has broad experience consulting in fields ranging from geotechnical, dam and hydropower engineering to civil projects around New Zealand.

He has worked the full lifecycle of projects, covering client liaison, concept design and feasibility studies, detailed design and construction (monitoring and contract management).

After the Canterbury earthquakes, Ben was part of many geotechnical investigations, hazard assessments, and foundation and retaining wall designs and construction.

Since 2015 he has focused on the geotechnical and water infrastructure sector, with projects including:

• remedial design of bridges and tanks
• slope stability assessments
• earthworks
• dam civil safety, and dam and canal repair and design
• hydropower developments
• building consent reviews of large dams.

Ben has been involved with the interim committee for the New Zealand Hydropower Group, formed in June 2021.

OUTSIDE WORK: Ben is usually found spending time with his young family and friends, and biking in the hills.
