Peter Lilley
Project Director – Water Resources
Coming full circle from Riley graduate engineer to senior leader, Peter has amassed more than 30 years' experience with us and externally. His inputs span the technical, governance and management spheres.
He particularly lends his technical skills to water resource projects, ranging from inception to commissioning, and asset lifecycle management and redevelopment.
These projects encompass:
• hydroelectricity
• irrigation
• town water supply
• stormwater and wastewater development.
Peter has coordinated many collaborative processes for resource consenting. As a private contractor he facilitated working groups to jump-start multi-purpose water resource projects that had stalled.
In technical expert and public education roles, Peter has helped communities understand the value, impact and consequences of water resource projects. He also led the resource consenting (permitting) strategy for three new hydroelectric schemes.
A past Chair of the New Zealand Society on Large Dams (NZSOLD), Peter represents NZSOLD on the Public Safety Committee of the International Commission on Large Dams.
OUTSIDE WORK: Peter likes travelling, listening to and playing music, walking and gardening.
