New Zealand’s progress towards greater renewable and low carbon energy relies on developing more renewable energy and improving the infrastructure we have. Riley’s work continues to be part of this solution.
Since we started in business, Riley has always had a close link to renewable energy generation through our specialist dam engineering services. We provide safety evaluation, re-consenting and upgrades on hydropower dams throughout New Zealand.

While most of the country’s renewable energy comes from hydroelectric power and there is potential for more of these schemes, wind power has been the most significant new development of renewable power generation in the past 20 years.

In the latter half of the 2000s numerous wind farms were consented, with a large proportion of them built. Renewed commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are spurring the resurgence in wind development.

Since wide-scale wind power generation was introduced, Riley has provided geotechnical and civil engineering expertise for consenting and construction of a number of wind farm sites. We continue to do so on new projects.

Solar power generation projects are being investigated throughout New Zealand, with some poised to start building. Our teams are involved in assessing the suitability of sites.
